The Reliable Double Simple engine is similar to the
5HP Compound - the low pressure
cylinder of the compound is replaced with a second, high pressure cylinder. In all other
respects the engines are the same. The engine is suitable for marine or stationary use.
Positive starting and dependable operation is ensured by the 90o crank.
The casting kit consists of 41 cast iron pieces including a cast semi steel crank shaft
and the finished engine weighs 87 lbs.

(Of course you know that; just being thorough.) It's a unit of power equal to 550
foot-pounds per second
or 735.5 (or 746 -- believe it not, opinions vary)
watts, and is the usual
measure of the amount of work an engine can do.
